Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Plan Mathematics 7-12
Encourage Students to Build Confidence in Math
If you're ready for a rewarding new career, becoming a teacher is possible at nearly any age and your previous background in another field can be a real bonus in your classroom. At University of Houston-Clear Lake, the Post-Baccalaureate Certification Plan Mathematics 7-12 will train you to be creative in finding ways to convey challenging concepts to all students. You'll learn to build your students' confidence, even if they have struggled with math in the past.
Advantages for Students Multiply
With the help of dedicated faculty, your coursework will prepare you with the insights and practical experience you'll need to positively impact middle and high school students. With academic specialization courses that include calculus, algebra through technology, and probability, you'll sharpen your own math expertise. Your College of Education courses, including educational psychology and methods in secondary mathematics, prepare you to effectively present the concepts to your students so they can master the skills with confidence. Students who develop strong STEM skills are also cultivating the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will empower them to succeed throughout their high school career and beyond.
Although it is not necessary for students holding at least a bachelor's degree and seeking initial teacher certification to pursue a second bachelor's degree, those who wish to do so must meet the university's lower-level requirements in addition to the requirements for both teacher certification and the second degree, unless such requirements were met through the completion of the first bachelor's degree. These lower-level requirements are described in the Core section of the catalog.Request InfoHow to ApplyVisit
